ABİTRAKS, powder for preparing an injection solution

Abitraks composition

Active substance: In 1 vial there is 1000 mg ceftriaxone (as sterile ceftriaxone sodium salt). Solvent: 3.5 ml of 1% lidocaine solution.

Indications for use:

 Infectious-inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to the medicinal product:

 • Infections of the LOR (ENT) organs;

 • Infections of the respiratory tract (pneumonia, bronchitis, lung abscesses, empyema of the pleura);

 • Infections of the urogenital system (pyelitis, cystitis, acute and chronic pyelonephritis, prostatitis, uncomplicated gonorrhea and other infections transmitted sexually (soft chancre and syphilis);

 • Infectious diseases observed with weakened immunity;

 • Diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue;

 • Wound infections, infectious diseases of the skin and soft tissues;

 • Meningitis;

 • Bone and joint infections;

 • Peritonitis, inflammation of the gallbladder, gastrointestinal infections.

 • Prophylaxis of infections occurring after surgical procedures.

Contraindications:

 In the medical history: hypersensitivity to cephalosporins and other beta-lactam antibiotics, high sensitivity to lidocaine (intramuscular administration); pregnancy. In newborns and premature infants, it should be used with caution in cases of hyperbilirubinemia. If a calcium-containing infusion is administered intravenously, their simultaneous use is contraindicated due to the risk of formation of calcium ceftriaxone precipitate.

Abitraks method of use, dosage

 Abitraks is used for i/m and i/v administration (with sterile water for injection). Adults and children over 12 years: 1–2 g per day. In severe infections, the daily dose of the drug may be increased up to 4 g. For prophylaxis before surgery, the drug is administered i/v 2 hours before the operation. In acute otitis, the drug is used 1 g once daily. For the treatment of meningitis, the maximum daily dose of the drug (4 g) can be administered every 12 hours. The duration of the treatment course depends on the severity of the infection. Usually, antibiotic therapy with ceftriaxone is stopped 48 hours after the symptoms of the disease have disappeared. Children under 12 years and infants: 50–80 mg/kg every 24 hours. In children with a body weight greater than 50 kg, the adult dose is used. In newborns (up to 2 weeks), the dose is calculated as 20–50 mg/kg/day. Ceftriaxone passes into breast milk in small amounts. For intravenous use, ceftriaxone is dissolved in 9.6 ml of sterile water for injection. Ceftriaxone can be administered intravenously together with mixtures of 0.9% sodium chloride, 5% or 10% dextrose with 0.9% sodium chloride, and mixtures of 5% dextrose with 0.45% sodium chloride solutions. The i/v infusion should be administered over 30 minutes. For i/v injection, use a freshly prepared solution of ceftriaxone. For i/m injection, the preparation method of the solution at a concentration of 250 mg/ml for ceftriaxone: dissolve 1 g of the drug in 3.6 ml of lidocaine.
