Composition and directions for use
Activated charcoal tablets are a medicinal product with strong adsorbent properties. Each tablet contains 250 mg of the active ingredient activated charcoal. This medicine is used in cases of poisoning, digestive system disorders, and to remove toxins from the body.
The main mechanism of action of the product is carried out through the adsorption of harmful substances, toxins, and bacterial poisons in the gastrointestinal tract. Activated charcoal demonstrates high adsorbent capacity because it has a large number of micro-pores on its surface.
For adults, the usual dosage is 2–4 tablets 3–4 times a day. For children, the dosage is determined by the doctor according to age and weight. The tablets should be taken with water. The treatment duration is typically 3–7 days.
Contraindications and warnings
The main contraindications for using the product are ulcer diseases of the gastrointestinal system, bleeding, and individual hypersensitivity to the components of the product. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding may use it with medical advice.
During long-term use, adsorption of some vitamins and beneficial substances may also occur. When taken at the same time as other medicines, it may weaken their effects, so other products should be taken at least 1–2 hours apart. Side effects such as constipation and darkening of stool may be observed.
