Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, inform your doctor. The use of memantine during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended.
Your doctor will inform you about the effect of the medicine on your ability to drive a car or operate potentially dangerous machinery. Alceba may affect attention and could impair your ability to drive and use machinery.
Take Alceba as prescribed by your doctor. If you have any questions about how to take it, consult your doctor. The maximum daily dose prescribed for adults is 20 mg. To reduce the likelihood of side effects, it is recommended to start with a dose of 5 mg (1/2 tablet) during the first week.
In the second week of treatment, the dose is increased to 10 mg/day (2 times a day, 1/2 tablet), and in the third week the dose is increased to 15 mg/day (1 tablet in the morning and 1/2 tablet at midday). Starting from the fourth week of treatment, the dose is continued with 20 mg/day (1 tablet twice daily). The recommended daily maintenance dose is 20 mg. The medicine is recommended to be taken up to dinner.
To achieve the required effect, it is recommended to take the medicine regularly every day at the same time. For patients with impaired kidney function, the doctor will determine the appropriate dose for your condition. In this case, kidney function should be checked periodically by your doctor. In severe renal impairment, the daily dose is 10 mg.
In severe liver impairment, taking the medicine is not recommended. Taking with food: Tablets should be swallowed without chewing with a little water, regardless of food intake. Duration of treatment: The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. Your doctor should regularly assess the progress of the treatment.
If you forget to take Alceba: Wait and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you have any further questions about using the medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
