Alfam 2 MQ 5 ml Eye Drops

ALFAM®, 0.2% (2 mq/ml) eye drops, solution

Alfam composition

 Active substance: The solution contains 2 mg brimonidine tartrate in 1 ml of solution. Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, sodium chloride, sodium citrate dihydrate, citric acid monohydrate, purified water, sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid (to adjust pH).

Indications for use:

 ALFAM is used to lower intraocular pressure. It may be used as monotherapy in cases where beta-blocker eye drops are contraindicated, or in combination with other eye drops when a single medicinal product is not sufficient to lower intraocular pressure, for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Contraindications

 • Allergy to brimonidine tartrate or to any of the other components of ALFAM (hypersensitivity).

 • Concurrent use of monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors or other specific antidepressants. You must inform your doctor about the use of any other antidepressant.

 • Lactation period

 • Use in infants/children (up to 2 years of age).

Use during pregnancy and lactation:

 Consult your doctor before starting to take any medicine. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you must inform your doctor. The use of ALFAM during lactation is contraindicated.

How to use Alfam, dosage

 ALFAM should always be used exactly as recommended by your doctor. Adults: 1 drop into the affected eye(s) twice daily at 12-hour intervals. Children under 12 years: ALFAM should not be used in children under 2 years of age. Use in children aged 2 to 12 years is not recommended. Clinical studies in adolescents (12–17 years) have not been conducted. Before using ALFAM, wash your hands. Instill the drop in the amount prescribed by the doctor. If ALFAM is used with another eye drop, keep an interval of 5–15 minutes between them. The eye drops should be used as follows: 1. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. 2. Carefully pull down the lower eyelid until a small pocket is formed. 3. Squeeze the bottle until 1 drop falls into the eye. 4. Then close your eye, press the corner of the eye with your finger (the area where the eye meets the nose), and hold for 1 minute. Do not allow the tip of the dropper to touch your eye or any object. After use, replace and tighten the cap. If you forget to use ALFAM If you forget to use a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and use the next dose on time, and continue treatment with the usual regimen. If you stop using ALFAM To achieve an effective result from treatment, ALFAM must be used every day. Do not stop using ALFAM without your doctor’s recommendation.
