ALGİKEY, solution for injection for 30 mg/ml

Algikey composition

 Active substance:   30 mg ketorolac tromethamine is contained in 1 ml of solution. Excipients: 96% ethanol, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, water for injection.

Indications for use:

 Short-term treatment of moderate to severe acute pain after surgery. Treatment should be carried out only in a hospital setting. The maximum duration of treatment is two days.

Contraindications:

 • Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the product or to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (in patients in whom aspirin and/or other prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors cause allergic reactions)  • Concomitant use of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. • Active peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding and gastric perforation  • Severe heart failure, liver failure and kidney failure (as with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) • Moderate or severe renal impairment (serum creatinine >160 µmol/l)   • Pregnancy, childbirth and lactation period • Pre-operative analgesia and during surgery, due to inhibition of platelet aggregation (because it increases the risk of bleeding) • Inhibits platelet function and in patients with suspected or confirmed cerebrovascular bleeding, with a high risk of bleeding such as changes in coagulation and hemorrhagic diathesis, and in patients with incomplete hemostasis during surgery   • During concomitant anticoagulant therapy (warfarin and low-dose heparin (2500–5000 units per 12 hours)) • During neuroaxial (epidural and intrathecal) administration due to the presence of ethanol in the formulation • In patients with complete or partial angioedema, bronchospasm, or nasal polyps  • During concomitant treatment with probenecid, lithium salts and pentoxifylline • Pregnancy, childbirth and lactation period.  • In children under 16 years of age • Asthma

Use during pregnancy and lactation:

 Considering the effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on the fetal cardiovascular system, ketorolac tromethamine is contraindicated during pregnancy and childbirth. During the use of prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors in pregnancy, cases of pulmonary hypertension, renal failure, and increased bleeding time may occur. Up to 10% of ketorolac tromethamine may cross the placental  barrier. 

Algikey method of use, dosage

 Treatment with Algikey injection should be carried out under the instruction and supervision of a physician. The recommended initial intramuscular or intravenous dose is 10 mg. Intravenous doses should be administered over at least 15 seconds. Maximum analgesia occurs within 1–2 hours. The average duration of analgesia is 4–6 hours. Dosage should be adjusted between 10–30 mg depending on the severity of pain and the patient’s response. If the pain is severe or very severe, the recommended initial dose is 30 mg. The maximum daily dose must not exceed 90 mg for adults and 60 mg for elderly patients. The maximum duration of treatment must not exceed 2 days due to the occurrence of side effects. The product should not be used at high doses. If the body responds appropriately to the treatment process, the doctor may recommend using ketorolac tablets as well during treatment. In this case, it should be taken into account that the total daily combined dose of the injection dosage form and tablet dosage form must not exceed 90 mg for adults and 60 mg for elderly patients. The administration of the product depends on the presence of pain. Treatment should be stopped as soon as the pain subsides. Use in children: It is not recommended to prescribe the product to children. For children under 16 years of age, the safety and efficacy of the product have not been studied. Use in elderly patients: Patients over 65 years of age should consult a doctor before using the product. If one Algikey injection is missed, a double dose should not be used to make up for it.
