ALKA-ZELTSER, effervescent tablets

Alka-Zeltser composition

Active ingredient:          1 tablet contains  324 mg acetylsalicylic acid.  Excipients:  anhydrous citric acid, sodium hydrocarbonate, povidone 25, sodium saccharin, lemon flavoring, lime flavoring, calcium silicate, sodium dihydrogenate/ sodium benzoate.

Indications:

From mild pains to moderate to severe pains. High body temperature. Pay attention to indications for use in children and adolescents (see the “Precautions” section).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to ASA or other NSAIDs or to other components of the product; active peptic ulcer; hemorrhagic diathesis; concomitant use of methotrexate at a dose of 15 mg per week or higher; asthma caused by taking salicylates or other NSAIDs; severe chronic renal and/or hepatic insufficiency; severe chronic heart failure; pregnancy (III trimester); children and adolescents under 15 years of age.

Use during pregnancy and lactation:

Inhibitors of prostaglandin synthesis may adversely affect the course of pregnancy and/or the development of the embryo/fetus. In the early stages of pregnancy, the risk of miscarriage and the development of defects increase together with exceeding the dose limit and the continuous use of the product. In the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, the following risks are possible: renal dysfunction that can lead to renal failure and decreased amniotic fluid; fetal—cardiopulmonary toxicity.  In the last months of pregnancy, blood clotting in the mother and the child may increase; antiplatelet effect; weakening of labor pains. Salicylates and their metabolites, even in small amounts, pass into breast milk and increase the risk of bleeding in the child due to impaired platelet function. Therefore, there is no need to stop breastfeeding after accidental (single) use of the product up to now, since no adverse effects on the infant have been recorded. However, during regular use of the product and/or at high doses, breastfeeding must be discontinued. Medicinal products that inhibit cyclooxygenase/prostaglandin synthesis can also affect the ovulation process, leading to impaired female fertility. After the end of treatment, this process may be restored.
