Composition of ALKALA N

Active ingredient: The 150 g powder contains 133.93 g sodium bicarbonate, 13.40 g potassium bicarbonate, and 2.67 g sodium citrate.

Indications for use

Alkala N is a traditional preparation. Traditionally, it is a mildly acting product for stomach complaints related to heartburn and acid. If stomach complaints related to heartburn and acid last longer than 1 week or recur, consult a doctor.

Contraindications

It should not be used in cases of insufficient stomach acid, alkalosis, potassium deficiency, or when feeding is deficient in sodium. Because there is a risk of gastric perforation, Alkala N should not be used for burning sensations caused by stomach acid.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Since there is not enough documented information, Alkala N should not be used during pregnancy and lactation.

How to use ALKALA N and dosage

The following information applies unless your doctor prescribes otherwise. Please follow the method of intake; otherwise, Alkala N may not show the expected effect. If not prescribed otherwise by the doctor: 1 measuring spoon (3 g) of Alkala N is dissolved in half a glass of liquid and taken during the day. As a general rule, 1–2 hours are needed between taking Alkala N and taking other medicines.

In general, the duration of treatment is not limited, but consider the information for the intended use. Follow the instructions on the indicator paper for checking the pH value of urine. The determined pH of urine is entered into the control chart. Thus, diseases that affect the effect of the diet or the acid–base ratio can be identified.

If the measured result is between 5.2 and 6.0, or if it is below 7 during several consecutive measurements, the use of Alkala N is recommended. If the pH is higher than 7.0, Alkala N intake is not necessary. The pH value should be checked before breakfast and before taking Alkala N. The next measurement should be taken before dinner.
