Alteks syrup is an effective medicine with antitussive (cough-suppressing) effects. Each 5 ml of syrup contains 25 mg of the active ingredient butamirate citrate. This active component prevents cough by stopping the cough center in the central nervous system.
The medicine should be used in an exact dosage according to age. For children aged 3–6 years: 5 ml (1 teaspoon) three times a day. For children aged 6–12 years: 10 ml (2 teaspoons) three times a day. For children over 12 years and adults: 15 ml (1 tablespoon) should be taken 3–4 times a day.
The syrup can be taken before or after meals. The taste is pleasant and it is easy for children to take. Shake the bottle well before use.
The main advantage of Alteks syrup is its fast and long-lasting effect against dry cough. The product should not be used for productive (phlegmy) cough, as it may interfere with the removal of phlegm. The medicine also helps to dilate the bronchi and makes breathing easier. Overall, due to its anti-inflammatory effect, inflammatory processes in the respiratory tract are reduced.
Some contraindications should be considered when using the medicine. It should not be used in children under 3 years of age. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, it should not be taken without a doctor’s advice. Allergic reactions may occur in patients with sensitivity to the product. In rare cases, headache, nausea, or skin redness may be observed.
