Aminoven, international non-proprietary name: Amino acids for parenteral nutrition
Composition of Aminoven
Active substances (per 1 liter of solution):
Aminoven 10%: 100 g/l of various amino acids, 16.2 g/l nitrogen, energy value 1680 kC/l.
Aminoven 15%: 150 g/l amino acids, 25.7 g/l nitrogen, energy value 2520 kC/l.
Excipients: glacial acetic acid, malic acid, water for injection.
Indications for use
The product is used as a component of a parenteral nutrition regimen. In particular, it is used to meet the body’s protein requirements when food intake is ineffective or not possible. It is usually prescribed together with energy sources (carbohydrates, fat emulsion).
Contraindications
Disorders of amino acid metabolism, metabolic acidosis, renal and hepatic insufficiency, fluid overload, hypoxia, shock, decompensated heart failure, children under 2 years (10%), children under 18 years (15%).
Use during pregnancy and lactation
No specific studies have been conducted on safety. However, clinical use of similar medicinal products indicates that there is no risk during pregnancy and lactation. It may be used only when the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk.
Use in pediatrics
Use in children under 2 years (10%) and under 18 years (15%) is not recommended. For newborns and breastfed infants, amino acid solutions specially prepared for this purpose should be used.
Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate other potentially hazardous machinery
During treatment, it is necessary to avoid driving vehicles and activities that require psychomotor responses.
How to use Aminoven
The product is administered only as continuous infusion into a central vein. Administration as a bolus is not recommended.
Aminoven 10%: average dose for adults 10–20 ml/kg/day (1.0–2.0 g amino acids/kg/day), maximum dose 20 ml/kg/day.
Aminoven 15%: average dose for adults 6.7–13.3 ml/kg/day (1.0–2.0 g amino acids/kg/day), maximum dose 13.3 ml/kg/day.
Infusion duration: 14–24 hours. Maximum infusion rate: 0.1 g amino acids/kg/hour.
