AMOXICILLIN, Dr. PRÜFER 125 mg/5 ml for preparing a suspension for oral use

AMOXICILLIN composition

Active ingredient: 125 mg amoxicillin (as trihydrate) is contained in 5 ml of the ready suspension (1 measuring spoon).

Indications for use

Infectious-inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to amoxicillin: infections of the respiratory tract and LOR (ENT) organs—sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia; infections of the urinary system—pyelonephritis, pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis, gonorrhea, endometritis, cervicitis; infections of the gastrointestinal tract—enterocolitis, shigellosis, typhoid fever, salmonellosis, Salmonella carriage; cholangitis, cholecystitis, ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum (as part of combined therapy); infections of the skin and soft tissues—erysipelas, impetigo, dermatoses infected with secondary infection; leptospirosis, listeriosis, Lyme disease (borreliosis), meningitis, endocarditis (prophylaxis), sepsis, peritonitis, asymptomatic bacteriuria during pregnancy, typhoid or paratyphoid fever, prosthetic joint infections.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin and/or to any of the excipients of the product; hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics (as well as other penicillins, cephalosporins, carbapenems, etc.); atopic dermatitis; bronchial asthma; pollinosis; infectious mononucleosis; lymphocytic leukemia; hepatic failure; history of gastrointestinal diseases (especially colitis associated with the use of antibiotics); lactation period; deficiency of sucrase/isomaltase; intolerance to fructose; malabsorption of glucose-galactose. Use with caution—pregnancy, renal failure, history of bleeding, allergic reactions (also in the history).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Amoxicillin penetrates the placental barrier in small amounts and is excreted in breast milk, which may cause diarrhea and fungal infections of the mucous membrane in breastfed infants. When it is necessary to use amoxicillin during pregnancy, the expected benefit to the mother should be compared with the potential risk to the fetus. During lactation (breastfeeding), amoxicillin should be used with caution.

Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate other potentially dangerous machinery

During use of the product, patients should be especially cautious when driving a car and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities, due to possible adverse reactions from the nervous system such as dizziness, seizures, and behavioral disorders.

AMOXICILLIN dosage and method of use

Adults and children over 10 years old (with body weight over 40 kg)—Standard dosing regimen: 500 mg 3 times daily (20 ml); in severe infection—750 mg 3 times daily—1 g (30–40 ml). For children aged 5–10 years: 250 mg 3 times daily (10 ml suspension); for children aged 2–5 years: 125 mg 3 times daily (5 ml suspension); for children under 2 years: 20 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 3 doses. For children aged 3 months: maximum daily dose—30 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 2 doses (every 12 hours).

In premature infants and newborns, the dose is reduced and/or the interval between doses is increased. Treatment course—5–12 days.
