AMPICILLIN TRIHYDRATE, 250 mg tablets 

Ampicillin Trihydrate composition

  Active ingredient:    Each tablet contains 250 mg ampicillin (as ampicillin trihydrate). Excipients: calcium stearate, talc, potato starch.

Indications for use:

  Bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms: infections of the LOR organs (nose-ear-throat), bronchitis, pneumonia, infections of the urinary tract, gonorrhea, gynecological infections, septicemia, peritonitis, endocarditis, meningitis, typhoid fever, infections of the gastrointestinal tract.  If oral administration of the product is not possible, its parenteral dosage form should be used.

Contraindications:

 High hypersensitivity (including to other penicillins, cephalosporins, carbapenems), infectious mononucleosis, lympholeukemia, liver failure, those with a history of gastrointestinal tract disease (especially colitis caused by the use of antibiotics), lactation period, children under 6 years of age. The product should be used with caution in the following cases: bronchial asthma, pollinosis and other allergic diseases, renal failure, those with a history of bleeding, pregnancy.

Use during pregnancy  and lactation:

 Use of the product during lactation is contraindicated. During pregnancy, use of the product is possible if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.  

Ampicillin Trihydrate method of use, dosage

 Take orally 0.5–1 hour before meals. Adults (including elderly patients) for infections of the LOR organs: 250 mg 4 times a day  . For bronchitis: standard treatment regimen: 250 mg 4 times a day; high-dose treatment regimen:  1 g 4 times a day. For pneumonia: 500 mg 4 times a day. For infections of the urinary tract: 500 mg 3 times a day. For gonorrhea: 2 g of ampicillin trihydrate together with 1 g of probenecid is taken orally once.  For treatment of women, repeated (multiple) use of the product is recommended.  For infections of the gastrointestinal tract: 500–750 mg 3–4 times a day. For typhoid fever: in the acute period: 1–2 g 4 times a day for 2 weeks; in bacterial carriers: 1–2 g 4 times a day for 4–12 weeks. Children, starting from 6 years of age: the product is prescribed at a dose of 100 mg per kilogram of body weight. The daily dose is divided into 4–6 intakes.   All prescribed dosing regimens are for guidance. If necessary, in severe infections the doses may be increased and/or the injectable dosage form of the product may be used. In patients with renal failure: in patients with acute renal failure (creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min), the dose reduction and/or increasing the intervals between doses should be considered. After the dialysis procedure, an additional dose of the medicinal product should be prescribed.
