Analgin, international non-proprietary name: Metamizole sodium
Analgin composition
Active ingredient: Each tablet contains 500 mg metamizole sodium monohydrate.
Indications for use
Acute pain after trauma and surgery; acute pain associated with muscle spasm of internal organs; pain related to swelling; other acute and chronic severe pains when other therapeutic measures are not possible; high fever when other antipyretic medicines do not work.
Contraindications
High sensitivity to the components of the product or to other pyrazolone or pyrazolidine derivatives; analgesic-induced asthmatic syndrome or intolerance to analgesics; impaired bone marrow function; diseases of the blood-forming system; genetic deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase; acute hepatic porphyria; the last trimester of pregnancy; lactation period; children under 15 years of age.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
There is insufficient information for use in humans. It should not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy. In the second trimester, it may be used only after assessing the benefit-risk ratio. Use in the third trimester is contraindicated. Use during lactation is not recommended. If used, breastfeeding may be allowed 48 hours after taking the medicine.
Use in pediatrics
Use in children under 15 years of age is contraindicated.
Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate other potentially dangerous machinery
At the recommended dose, it does not affect attention or the speed of reactions. However, when high doses are taken, driving vehicles and operating dangerous machinery is not recommended.
How to use Analgin
The dose is selected according to the intensity of pain and fever. Tablets are taken whole with plenty of liquid. Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age (>53 kg): 1–2 tablets (500–1000 mg), maximum daily dose – 8 tablets (4000 mg). In elderly patients and in individuals with impaired kidney/liver function, the dose may be reduced. During long-term use, monitoring of the blood is required.
